Restore disconnected gas service

If your gas service was disconnected for non-payment, follow these steps to quickly reconnect:

  1. Resolve your balance: Pay your outstanding amount online or set up a payment arrangement using My Account.
  2. Be available for the technician: An adult (over the age of 18) must be home when our technician arrives to safely restore your service. Once we receive your payment, we’ll schedule your reconnection. It typically takes 24 — 48 business hours.

Start, stop or transfer service

It’s easy to start new service, stop existing service or transfer to a new address.

Start new service

For new customers who need to start new service, you’ll need to provide your name, address, move-in date and a payment method for your initial deposit. Be sure to submit your request for new service seven (7) business days before your move-in date so we can initiate the billing cycle and start your service. Start service requests are usually completed within three (3) business days.

Transfer service

If you’re moving and want to transfer your National Fuel service to your new address, just complete a transfer request and we’ll have you connected.

To stop service, sign into your account and submit a stop service request for the date you specify. You can also transfer your service to a new address if you’re moving somewhere we serve.

Frequently asked questions about service changes

How long does it take for my natural gas to be turned back on after disconnection?

After we receive your payment, reconnection typically happens within 24-48 business hours.

Does an adult have to be home for natural gas reconnection?

Yes. For safety reasons, a technician will probably need to enter your home to relight pilots and check for leaks. An adult (over the age of 18) must be present during the appointment.

Is there a fee to reconnect?

A reconnection fee may apply in certain National Fuel service areas. We’ll add the fee to your next bill so you won’t need to worry about paying when your technician reconnects your service.
