The Energy-Efficiency Rebate Program

The Energy-Efficiency Rebate Program

National Fuel’s energy-efficiency rebate program offers non-residential customers in Western New York several money-saving rebates for replacing specified appliances with new, energy-efficient models.

By combining rebates with projected annual savings for using more energy-efficient equipment, new, high-efficiency appliances can quickly pay for themselves.

Taking advantage of this affordable, efficient, secure and abundant resource really adds up—year after year.

An example of how you can make high efficiency more affordable

(Two) New 95% High-Efficiency, Condensing Boilers$25,600
(Two) Standard 80% Efficiency Non-condensing Boilers$18,000
Cost Difference for Higher-Efficiency Model$7,600
One-Time Fixed Rebate $3,000
Cost Difference after Rebate$4,600
Annual Operating Cost Savings$1,309*
Simple Payback on Cost for High-Efficiency Mode3.5 years**

There are two ways to save†

  1. Fixed (pre-qualified) rebate — Available on pre-qualified equipment
  2. Customized (performance-based) rebate  — Determined on a case-by-case basis, based on the results of an energy-use analysis. Customized rebates are determined by multiplying the annual energy savings in Mcf by $15. This may result in a larger rebate than if your company received a fixed rebate.

A rebate cap of $50,000 per program year for “Conditional Neutral” incentives and $100,000 for “Strategic” incentives, not to exceed $150,000 in total incentives.

Please note: For both pre-qualified and performance-based applications, all appliances must be installed by a contractor. Non-residential customers applying for a rebate AND the contractor who performed the installation must be able to supply one of the following: Federal ID number, a Certificate of Insurance or a Business Certificate showing their company’s name and address in order for the rebate application to be considered complete.
