To Our Customers:
National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation (National Fuel or Company) is filing a request with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) to increase your gas distribution rates as of March 29, 2026. This notice describes the Company’s rate request, the PUC’s role, and what actions you can take.
The Company has requested a base rate increase of $19.7 million per year. This filing also includes a request for approval of the following alternative rate mechanisms in accordance with 66 Pa. C.S. § 1330: 1) Permanent Weather Normalization Adjustment; 2) Energy Efficiency (EE) pilot program for an additional $0.7 million per year to be recovered from residential customers through a separate rider. Additionally, the Company has proposed the reactivation of the OPEB rider I surcredit to refund $7.2 million for customer bill relief.
If the Company’s entire request is approved, the total bill for a residential customer using 80 ccf per month would increase from $83.49 to $90.28 per month, or by 8.1% including the proposed EE rider. From $83.49 to $88.44 per month, or by 5.9% when including the proposed OPEB rider I surcredit extension.
The total bill for a small commercial customer using 257 ccf per month would increase from $189.24 to $201.21 per month or by 6.5%. From $189.24 to $198.11 per month, or by 5.1% when including the proposed OPEB rider I surcredit extension.
The total bill for an intermediate volume industrial customer using 802 Mcf monthly would increase from $1,905.13 to $2,039.29 per month, or by 7.0%. From $1,905.13 to $1,984.36 per month, or by 4.2% when including the proposed OPEB rider I surcredit extension.
To find out your customer class or how the requested increase may affect your gas bill, contact National Fuel at 1-800-365-3234. The rates requested by the Company may be found in Supplement No. 294 to Tariff Gas – Pa. P.U.C. No. 9. You may examine the material filed with the PUC, which explains the requested increase and the reasons for it. A copy of this material is kept at National Fuel’s Consumer Assistance Centers. Upon request, the Company will send you a statement of reasons for Supplement No. 294 explaining why the Company requested the rate increase.
The state agency which approves rates for public utilities is the PUC. The PUC will examine the requested rate increase and can prevent existing rates from changing until it investigates and/or holds hearings on the request. The Company must prove that the requested rates are reasonable. After examining the evidence, the PUC may grant all, some, or none of the request or may reduce existing rates.
The PUC may change the amount of the rate increase or decrease requested by the utility for each customer class. As a result, the rate charged to you may be different than the rate requested by the Company and shown above.
There are three ways to challenge a company’s request to change its rates:
Send your letter or request for a formal complaint form to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, Post Office Box 3265, Harrisburg, PA 17105-3265.
For more information, call the PUC at 1-800-692-7380. You may leave your name and address so you can be notified of any public input hearings that may be scheduled in this case.
