Recently, the board of directors of the National Fuel Gas Company Foundation (Foundation), the charitable giving arm of National Fuel Gas Company (National Fuel), approved Foundation grants totaling $245,000.
According to David P. Bauer, Foundation President and President and CEO of National Fuel, funding that was approved supports grants that reflect our Foundation’s pillars of Community Enrichment and Safety, Education, Environmental Stewardship and Veterans Services and includes recommendations by our Employee Resource Groups and partners from our Days of Doing volunteer events.
“The Foundation is pleased to support more than 50 organizations that provide a wide variety of essential work across our service territory,” Bauer said. “Many of these Foundation grants support summer youth programs, camps and activities, outdoor education and the parks and recreation areas we enjoy during warmer months.”
In New York, grant funding will support Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo’s Summer PASS (Program Around Academics and Sports Sampling). As a cornerstone of youth development, Boys and Girls Club serves children from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. Summer PASS is a new program designed to combat summer learning loss by integrating academic instruction with physical activity at five club locations. Other community grant recipients include Buffalo Urban League and Hearts for the Homeless.
In Pennsylvania, the United Way of Mercer County will receive funding to create an outdoor environmental education area in a council ring design that will facilitate group discussion and hands-on, in-nature learning at Stull Nature Reserve. Stull is a 40-acre naturalized area in a rural section of the City of Hermitage. Mill Cove Environmental Area in Tioga County also will receive environmental education funding.
