Michael D. Colpoys is President of National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation, overseeing utility operations that serve 2.2 million residents across Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania. With 38 years at National Fuel, he brings deep operational and engineering expertise to the role.

Colpoys began his career in 1987 as a Management Trainee and has held numerous leadership roles, including Vice President of Midstream and Distribution in 2015, Vice President of Distribution Corporation in 2016, and most recently, Senior Vice President of Distribution Corporation. His responsibilities have spanned utility field operations, Rates and Regulatory Affairs, Energy Services, Gas Supply Administration, supply chain, and fleet operations.

A Buffalo native, Colpoys holds a bachelor’s degree from Clarkson University and an MBA from Penn State Behrend. He is active in industry and community organizations, serving on the boards of the Northeast Gas Association, Energy Association of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Chamber, Erie Downtown Development Corporation, Penn State Behrend College of Fellows, and the 100 Club of Buffalo. Colpoys will also be National Fuel’s representative as a member of the board of directors for The Business Council of New York.
