PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and advocate the Company’s position on legislative issues and energy policy matters that impact National Fuel, its businesses and its customers in its New York jurisdiction
- Develop written and verbal communications tools to convey the Company’s position on legislative proposals and energy policy priorities
- Throughout the annual NYS budget and legislative session, be present in Albany to meet with lawmakers, staffers, and policymakers, attend committee hearings, represent the Company at fundraising events, and carry out various duties of an internal lobbyist as necessary
- Represent National Fuel’s interests and actively participate in business and trade groups
- Attend and represent the Company at political events and fundraisers
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues relating to constituent complaints, infrastructure projects, etc.
- Advise executive and senior leadership in Government Affairs on strategies related to lobbying efforts and the shaping of energy policy
- Collaborate with Corporate Communications to develop and implement advocacy strategies
- Build a network of professional and political contacts to serve as an asset for Company and career development
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree (Juris Doctor, Public Policy, Engineering, Political Science and/or Business Administration preferred)
- Availability for frequent travel (including time away from home), and evening/weekend events
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, network, persuade, and negotiate
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong understanding of government and politics is desirable

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The base salary range for this position is $60,500 – $107,000.
This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of pay that National Fuel believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job. The specific base pay offered to a successful applicant will be based primarily on relevant professional experience. Other components that may be considered include: individual qualifications, licensures, industry specific experience, education and market demands for specialized skills. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. Exempt positions will also be eligible for an Annual Cash Bonus Plan.
