Job Responsibilities
The Geologist will serve as an integral member of the Exploration team with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
- Analyze subsurface data, including seismic, well logs, and core samples, to determine reservoir properties and potential
- Create detailed geological models and maps to support exploration and production activities
- Work closely with drilling team to ensure accurate well targeting via geosteering
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and optimize field development plans
- Prepare and present geological prognoses, development plans, and other analyses
- Stay updated with industry advancements and integrate new technologies and methodologies into geological tasks
- Comply with Seneca’s EHSQ policies, standards and procedures and demonstrate active and regular involvement in EHSQ programs
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Geology or a related Earth Sciences field; a Master of Science degree is an advantage
- Approximately 5 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and production geology
- Experience in well log analysis, reservoir characterization, and seismic interpretation
- Strong knowledge of drilling, completion, and production operations
- Coding experience is preferred, particularly with Python, Matlab, or other similar programming languages
- Proficient in geological software such as Starsteer, Gverse, Petrel, or similar platforms
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex geological data
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present technical information effectively
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in geological modeling and reporting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with various technical disciplines
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and environmental guidelines in the oil and gas industry
