As the holiday season begins, the board of directors of the National Fuel Gas Company Foundation (Foundation), the charitable giving arm of National Fuel Gas Company (National Fuel), is pleased to announce newly approved grants totaling $150,000. Each year, the Foundation awards funding to initiatives that combat food insecurity and promote winter safety across its service territory.
“Hunger and food insecurity continue to affect many individuals and families in the communities we serve,” said David P. Bauer, president of the Foundation and president and CEO of National Fuel. “We’re proud to support food banks and pantries whose work provides vital nourishment during the most challenging times of the year.”
National Fuel’s support this season includes funding for:
- FeedMore WNY
- Hearts for the Homeless
- Heart, Love & Soul
- St. Susan Center
- Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania
- Central Pennsylvania Food Bank
- Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County
In addition to food assistance, the Foundation maintains long-standing partnerships with disaster and emergency service organizations. For more than a decade, it has supported American Red Cross chapters throughout Western New York and Northwest Pennsylvania. National Fuel also continues its commitment to Code Blue, the emergency cold-weather response program in Buffalo and Erie County, N.Y., which offers transportation, shelter, and warm meals to individuals experiencing homelessness from November 15 through April 30.
“Severe winter conditions and emergencies are a reality in our region,” Bauer said. “Our partnerships with the Red Cross and Code Blue are critical in helping people facing crisis access the support they need.”
In addition, National Fuel has awarded a grant to Endless Mountains Mobility Alliance to support veterans in Tioga County, Pa., who face transportation barriers to accessing healthcare. Many veterans in this rural region live on fixed incomes and do not qualify for existing state-funded transit programs, leaving them without affordable options to reach VA clinics and hospitals. This funding will help subsidize rides for veterans ineligible for other services.
