Shippingport Lateral Project

National Fuel Gas Supply Corporation (Supply), a subsidiary of National Fuel Gas Company, plans to construct various new pipeline facilities in Beaver County, Pennsylvania to support new natural gas demand at the Shippingport Industrial Park located in Shippingport Borough, Pennsylvania.

About the Project

The Shippingport Lateral Project will consist of:

  • Construction of approximately 7 miles of new 24-inch diameter high-strength carbon steel pipeline and related facilities, located in Independence and Raccoon Townships, and Shippingport Borough, Beaver County, Pennsylvania;
  • Construction of a new measurement and regulation station at the Shippingport Industrial Park;
  • Construction of a pipeline tie-in to connect the proposed Line N20B5 to Supply’s existing Line N20, located in Independence Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania; and
  • Minor modifications at Supply’s existing Mercer Station, located in Jefferson Township, MercerCounty, Pennsylvania

  • Outstanding safety record.
  • Pipeline facilities are constructed and maintained to meet or exceed federal safety code:
    • High strength carbon steel pipe with modern fusion bonded epoxy coating.
    • Coating protected with Rockshield and/or select screened backfill.
    • Minimum 3 foot of cover.
    • 100% of welds are X-rayed.
    • Hydrostatic test.
    • Remote control valves.
  • Proven Construction Quality Management System
  • System monitored 24/7/365 by National Fuel Gas Control.
    • Regulated and inspected by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
