Line N System Upgrade Project
National Fuel Gas Supply Corporation (Supply), a subsidiary of National Fuel Gas Company, plans to seek approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct various new pipeline facilities in Mercer, Lawrence, Beaver, Washington, and Greene Counties, Pennsylvania to modernize various portions of the Line N system and expand access to locally produced natural gas.
About the Project
The Line N System Upgrade Project will consist of:
- Replacement of approximately 6 miles of Line N20 vintage 20-inch pipeline with 24-inch high-strength coated carbon steel, including the Ohio River crossing in Beaver County, PA
- Includes the installation of two facilities used to inspect and maintain the pipeline, along with safety valves designed to quickly isolate sections of the pipeline if needed
- Replacement and testing of approximately 1 mile of pipeline segments on Line N20 between Service Creek Road and Aliquippa stations in Beaver County
- Installation of overpressure protection facilities between Line N20 and Line NM50 near Ellwood City in Beaver County
- Minor modifications at Supply’s existing Buffalo Compressor Station in Washington County
- Minor modifications at Supply’s existing Mercer Compressor Station in Mercer County
- Construction of a new interconnect with a local producer in Greene County
- Construction of a new measurement and regulation station in Beaver County

- High strength carbon steel pipe with modern fusion bonded epoxy coating
- Coating protected with Rockshield and/or select screened backfill
- Minimum 3 foot of cover
- 100% of welds are X-rayed
- Hydrostatic testing
- Remote control valve installation
- Proven Construction Quality Management System
- System monitored 24/7/365 by National Fuel Gas Control
- Regulated and inspected by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)
