The natural gas industry is crucial to Pennsylvania’s growth, generating economic impact through impact fees and other taxes, creating family-sustaining jobs, and investing in local businesses that help communities flourish.
According to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC), the state’s impact fee generated $164.5 million in 2024, bringing total revenue to over $3 billion since its introduction in 2012. Funds are collected by the PUC from unconventional gas well operators and distributed to counties, municipalities, and state agencies to support local environmental and infrastructure programs.

Seneca’s commitment to community extends beyond our work—it’s reflected in how we give back. We focus on Charitable Giving to support nonprofit organizations, encourage Employee Engagement through volunteer opportunities, sponsor local events to foster community connections, and promote Education Outreach to enhance learning opportunities for future generations.

Each of our programs is guided by three Pillars of Giving: Community, Environment, and Education. These pillars focus on building healthy, safe communities, protecting and enhancing our natural resources, and providing educational opportunities within our operating area.

Seneca’s Fueling Strong Communities charitable giving program provides funding to eligible nonprofit organizations that are 501(c)(3)-certified. A committee of employees from various departments leads the program, meeting monthly to review funding requests and evaluate community needs.
In 2025, Seneca donated more than $314,000 to 61 grassroots organizations in Pennsylvania and Houston. Contributions supported projects and programs aligned with our Pillars of Giving.
Seneca Resources prioritizes community engagement by supporting events, organizations, and initiatives in the communities where our employees work and raise their families. It aims to strengthen community ties, foster collaboration to tackle shared challenges, and promote sustainable development.
In 2025, Seneca supported more than 80 community events, including fundraisers, community celebrations, charity races and golf outings, youth sports, community-based infrastructure projects, and sportsmanship events.

The company participates in Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program and offers a free educational program, Energy Explorers, which explores the natural gas industry and related careers through engaging, hands-on STEAM activities.

Seneca was accepted into the EITC program in 2023 and was approved to make annual donations of $140,000 in both 2024 and 2025.
As a result, Seneca awarded 141 scholarships to students at 10 schools across eight counties.
Seneca also allocated $40,000 to Educational Improvement Projects in 2025, including a Mobile Energy Learning Unit, STEAM Camps, and after-school programming.
Seneca’s contributions also helped bring a Mobile “Ag Lab” to several elementary schools, giving students a unique opportunity to learn about Pennsylvania agriculture.

Energy Explorers is Seneca Resources’ hands-on STEAM education program designed to spark curiosity and build real-world understanding of energy and the natural gas industry. The free program delivers interactive lessons, demonstrations, and age-appropriate activities to classrooms, libraries, and community centers within Seneca’s operating area.
